Raymond, Cory, and Keith
Tournament Format
Double Elimination Bracket consisting of an even number of contestants.
Equipment
2 – 3 Holed 4 Foot “Bongo Boards”
6 – 3” Brass Washers
Spacing
Boards to be measured and placed 10 Feet apart.
Scoring
Front Hole – 1 point
Middle Hole – 3 points
Last Hole – 5 points
Game Winner
The first player to 21 without going over after any round wins.
Ground Rules
Players must throw washers from anywhere on top of the opposite board.
Players score the associated points of each hole.
Scoring is determined after a round.
A Round is when each player completes his or her 3 throws.
Scoring is calculated as total points by players net of the hole(s) made.
Example 1 –
Player A makes one 3-pointer and one 5-pointer for a total of 8.
Player B makes two 3-pointers and one 5-pointer for a total of 11.
Score after the round - Player B would have 3 points (Cancelled A’s 3-pointer and A’s 5-pointer).
Example 2 –
Player A makes one 1-pointer and one 3-pointer for a total of 4.
Player B makes one 5-pointer for a total of 5.
Score after the round – Player A has 4 points and Player B has 5 points. (Neither player cancelled another player’s made washer).
First player to 21 without going over is the winner. If, for example, player A has 18 points and scores 5 at the end of the round, that player would go back to 12 (18 + 5 - 11 = 12).
NOTE – Players go back to 11 plus the number of points they went over during tournament play until the Final 16, when normal rules apply (back to 1 plus points over).
Overage Example scores: 17+5 = 1 point, 18+5 = 2 points, 19+5 = 3 points, 20+3 = 2 points.
Tournament Play
The player on top of the bracket pairing goes first to start the match.
The player who made the most points during the last round goes first in the next round, etc.
If Player A hits 21 with any of their 3 washers, Player A moves off the board to allow Player B to throw. Player B throws all their washers to try to cancel Player A’s 21.
If Player B does not cancel any made washers, Player A is the winner.
If Player B does cancel any made washers, Player B would continue to throw until done. Player A would step back on the board and finish throwing any washers in hand.
NOTE - Both players have the opportunity to play ALL their washers if 21 is cancelled. Player A, who went first, will have the opportunity to play all 3 washers if Player B is able to cancel their 21. If Player B were to cancel, then hit 21 with their 2nd washer, they would step off until Player A has either cancelled or finished, etc.
Play continues in this manner until a winner has been determined.
Tournament Bracket
The Tournament Directors will put together a randomly generated double-elimination tournament Bracket based on the final number of entrants.
The top 16 from the previous year’s bracket will be pre-seeded, based on their order of finish. If one of the top 16 can not play the subsequent year, then that spot will be filled at random.
The Tournament Directors will decide the placement of boards for the Tournament.
There will be multiple boards to be used and game placement will be random using any free board that is available when that game is called.
When the Tournament hits its final 16, only pre-determined boards will be used.
At the conclusion of each game, it will be up to the winner of the Game to bring the result to the tournament bracket.
It will also be up to each player to check the bracket from time to time to find out when and where they are playing.
Players will forfeit their game if they cannot be found after 5 minutes of announcing the start of the game.
Any rule or game disputes will need to be brought to the attention of the tournament directors during the match in question. Once a winner has been determined and brought to the tournament bracket, there will be no changes.
Tournament rules interpretations will be at the sole discretion of the tournament directors, and any and all disputes will be handled and decided upon by the 3-person committee before the end of the match.
